What Is a CIMT Test & Why Does It Matter?

A CIMT (Carotid Intima-Media Thickness) test is a quick, painless ultrasound that looks at the thickness of the carotid arteries in your neck. These arteries supply blood to your brain—and changes in their thickness can be an early warning sign of heart disease or stroke, often before symptoms appear.
