When I was selecting my career path I chose medicine because I felt it would be the best way for me to personally and significantly help others. Now, the mess that is our current health system is no secret, but there is a solution. I believe the answer to improving people’s help is empowerment – and it is unfortunately missing from our existing system.
I’ve believed from the very beginning of my medical profession that every aspect of a person’s life must be addressed to improve their health. Lifestyle modification is absolutely necessary to slow or reverse the progression of chronic disease and to give patients the best chance for a better quality of life. It honestly can be that simple, but understandably is not at all easy. Also, to assure patients of its necessity requires time, education, and most importantly, a relationship. Encouraging and empowering patients to make difficult life-changing alterations will not happen if there is no relationship. Strengthening a supportive relationship with our patients will always be prioritized.
That’s our commitment at Foundations Medical Center. We offer a patient-centered approach to the practice of medicine that addresses you as a whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. We take into consideration how environmental and lifestyle factors affect each individual. We understand how every system in your body is connected and affected by everything we do. We seek to find the root cause of your symptoms, continuously looking for the why behind the why. But most importantly here you will be empowered to take control of your health. We believe this is the way medicine should be.
